NewBiz Startup
Summit & Awards 2021
Search for Nepali Unicorn
This is a new event being hosted by New Business Age Group, the pioneer and leading business media of Nepal. The Group has also been organizing various events related to the business sector since 2013.
This Event “NewBiz Startup Summit & Awards 2021: Search for Nepali Unicorn” is being held as per demand and suggestions from experts of the field. Previously it used to be part of the NewBiz Summit & Awards under which best-performing companies are awarded in different categories. Startup companies were one such category and only a couple of startups could be recognized for their excellence in those years.
Now, NewBiz wants to recognize and honor a number of best-performing startups, in different categories relevant to this new genre of entrepreneurship.
Objective behind the Event
In recent years, Nepal’s youths are showing strong zeal towards entrepreneurship. The number of startups with new business ideas tapping on the ongoing digital revolution is growing every year. Till recently, the Nepali youth would be seeking jobs in the government or in the private sector after graduation. Now a significant number of college students are aspiring to be entrepreneurs and they start a startup business. This needs to be promoted, helped, and encouraged. The government and the central bank as well as the banks too have been trying to help them. However, these programmes have not yet been as effective as intended.
This Event tries to help the startups to
- tap into the benefits that these government programmes offer
- be noticed and heard by investors and policymakers, and
- improve the way they are going about with their ventures
